The Waiting Room, June 2023

This project is the accumulation of a residency with In the Soil Arts Festival in Canada. 'The Waiting Room' is a labyrinth of wax sculptures, moving images, poetry and live music with musicians Anthony Perri and Sophia Pearlman. The piece is a response to the heat from the wildfires which sparked the theme of indoor and outdoor spaces for trans people, telling stories of being trans behind closed doors, lamenting on waiting lines for trans healthcare and sharing moments of trans joy untouched by the outside world. This is a place to celebrate many individual journeys, as there are as many different ways to be trans as there are trans people.
